Hey y'all:
I have a Silvertone speaker, identified only by a brass tag on the back that says "WLS Silvertone", and it has a whole laundry list of problems, but the main problem is that the voice coil reads 800 kOhm on my ohmmeter. Does anyone know what this is supposed to be, and where I could find a replacement?
Thanks!
Dale

Hi,
A few hundred ohms I suppose, but the exact value doesn't matter, since this one is evidently open. You can either find the break, which will be at one of the soldered terminals most likely, or you can rewind the open coil. It's a glorified headphone, very simple, but rewinding is somewhat tedious, and you need a supply of #42 wire or thereabouts.
There is no other ID on these things, just "WLS" which by the way stood for World's Largest Store.
