Does anyone know how to "tune by ear"? I just re-capped my 40-180. When I first powered up, I was able to use the tune dial and receive only one station KCBS 740. When I came back and turned it on again, no stations at all ??? I've thaought i've heard that you can semi-align a radio without test equip. Is this true??

Jeremy-
My opinion is you probably have something else doin' in that radio. Do a voltage check, and double and triple check all your installed components.
Then do yourself a favor get a tester like an eico 324 off ebay (got mine a month ago for $9) and use that to align. It's gonna be REAL tough to do by ear when you don't have anything to work with.
