I have a radio that is stamped mopar model 808. fits a 1950 desoto car. Anyone have any idea what schematic this one would use? Might it be made by someone else. Appreciate any help!!

The Sams Index lists a model 808 under the "Chrysler" heading.
Set 107 - folder 6.
Unfortunately I do not have that Photofact but could probably borrow a copy sometime over the next several days......(if you are in no hurry).

You might try a large library near you. Many of the larger libraries stock the entire Sams collection in their Technical Reference Depts.

Ricky: I believe that radio was made by Philco for Chrysler. It should be a 2 piece arrangement with the tuner seperate from the power supply/amp chassis if it is the one I am thinking of. The last gentleman steered you right on the schematic. Good luck, Tom.

T - this one is a one piece radio - big unit with pushbuttons and knobs on the bottom and the dial scale separated way up on top. I'm told it is a Desoto '50 but not sure as I haven't seen one like this before. Says Mopar 808 stamped right on the back. Wish I knew what philco number was but I don't see it anywhere - thanks for your help. Ricky

Hi Ricky,
Mopar 808 was made by Motorola. Sams 107-6 is correct, and it's also found in Sams auto radio series AR-2. For a similar schematic, look on the resources page here for Motorola 814--uses 6AQ5's instead of 6V6's, but otherwise very close.

Beitmans manuals may have it, I don't know the online source for them.

If you need a copy of the service instructions, send me an email with your mailing address.

Meade - thanks much for the info. I got the photofact today at the local library. You are correct it is a Motorola. 6 Volt positive ground - yikes. Now the work begins - thanks again - ricky.
