Sparton 121 dial cord stringing diagram
2/9/2007 10:39:25 PMDave Froehlich
Hello All,
My last step is to re-string the dial cord. It's in SAMS dial stringing diagrams volume 2, diagram 977.
If anyone has that diagram and could post a copy I would be very thankful.

Thanks,

Dave

The dial stringing guide posted on the RadioFixerUpperGuy site unfortunately only has the guides for radios produced prior to 1947. I believe that your Sparton is a 1950/51 model. There is, however, a Sams Photofact for that model (SET 57 - FOLDER 19). I'll be making a run to the library later on today for some Sams for myself and will check to see if I can get that one as well. The photofacts USUALLY, but not always, have a stringing guide in them. Would that suffice for you ?

And while I am there I think I'll also see if they have the vol 2 Sams Stringing Guide.....would be very handy to have access that.

Edd,
This worked perfectly. The dial cord is back on.
Now if I could remove the faint hum I hear when the volume is turned all the way down (maybe it's supposed to be that way), it would be fantastic.
I think I might just leave it that way.

Thanks very much,

Dave

Well first you pull that 6AV6 tube and confirm that your hummmmmmmm is not coming in from earlier circuitry.
Then its about the 6v6 and any K-FIL leakage and the trio of 40/40/10 ufd power supply filter caps, along with
the sole 50 ufd used on the 'V6 cathode bypassing...HOWEVER the latters demise is towards the decline of
system bass response.....'tain't that cabinet UGG-LEE. ?

Pee Ess...got that Punysonic "frying" saucer Tee Wee fixed yet ?

The Puny Sonic tee wee was completed long ago. Yes, I the Sparton is a bit ugly but please don't say that to its owner. It's owner has it back and is enjoying it. So I assume it's ok. Now I'm trying to figure out how to get the ribon speakers to work in a Zenith Y832 blond radio. Also the pointers are snapped off and the blond finish is cracking and falling off. There must be some wood grain I can put back on the cabinet.
Please check for my other post about the Zenith so the two topics aren't mixed together.

Thanks,

Dave
