Record cutting machine
2/3/2007 11:01:28 AMBOBH
I have obtained an old record cutter that will cut both 78 and 45 records. It is in pretty bad shape - can not make out the brand but it was made in Michigan City Indiana.Would like to try to restore if
I could find a source for blanks or some info.
Thanks for any help.

you will want fresh blanks because the old ones are often dried up, and will be noisy. for cutting and play-back cartridge service, try www.west-techservices.com. for record blanks, look to various recording companies that issue records. masters are cut on the same blanks that your phonograph uses. traditionally these were nitrous celluloid, which is explosively flammable. many companies during WWII sold safety blanks that were slow burning, though, and today they are all slow burning.
