Rogers-Majestic model numbers

If there are any Canadian readers out there perhaps someone could help me with this question please:

In the last 6 months I have either come across or been given what appeared to be model numbers for three Rogers-Majestic floor model radios. During a visit to a friend's last night, I examined another set that had been recovered from a dump (yes, a floor model) in very good shape and the only identifier see could locate on the metal plate on the rear of the chassis was a "type" number - R5525. Looking back through my notes, I found that "type" was also given as the models of the other sets. The trouble is, the type numbers do not equate to the various R-M models as shown in the Radio College of Canada listings (I also have a CD listing based upon the same data and no such "type" R5525 can be found. I have also checked Deforest and Motorola, etc. without success.

Did Rogers-Majestic use an actual model number anywhere on the chassis of each set?? We did not have time last night to disassemble things.

R5525 is the chassis number. The "R" denotes Rogers. A D-5525 would be a Deforest "Crusader" using the 5525 chassis. The actual model name was often rubber stamped on the inside side or back wood of the cabinet. It may have faded with time.

A schematic for the 5525 chassis is in Rogers schematics, page 23 in RCC.

The RCC CD has a copy of the Mallory Yaxley Radio Encyclopedia for Canada on it. The Rogers, DeForest and Mjestic sections give some cross references of the chassis numbers to the models. Unfortunately RCC and Rogers were not consistent making the schematics hard to find. MYE does make a good index for RCC though.

:Thanks for the information Ed. As I do not own the current set in question, I'll give it a through going over when I visit the owner again. I have your CD and on your advice (and several others on a "sister" sit who have had a similar dilemma with R-M models) I feel the real model will be determined.
