Airline 93BR-666A Question
1/31/2007 10:18:21 PMDick
I am restoring a nice 1939 Airline Radio, model 93BR-666A that has me baffled. The linkage between the tuning dial and the capacitor is complicated and right now it is not working. Someone may have worked on it before and messed it up. Now it takes two hands to tune the radio. It has push buttons which work, but surely both were designed to work. If anyone has had experience with this radio and can explain how it is supposed to work, I will be most grateful.

Hi Dick,
Your Airline radio was made by Belmont. In the late 1930's Belmont used similar dials on their radios and it was quite complicated. I looked up the 93BR-666A and it is an inteesting set. The schematic doesn't tell much about the dial string, though.
The Airline Miracle, 62-288 may use a similar dial string arrangement. You may want to look at that. As I recall the write up on that has information on dial string. You may also want to look at the 62-361 or browse among the Airline radios of that vintage. Anything starting with "93BR-" could have the information you need.

All the Best,

Bill Grimm

Go here to view the complete Sams Dial Stringing Guide. I didn't see your model but you might find something close enough under Airline or Belmont.
