The subject part is burnt and the schematic isn't clear to me. I suspect it's a molded choke. I just need a replacement.

Hi Bill

Believe you are talking about a Philco?

Might check with PTOP to see if they have a replacement? www.oldradioparts.com Can you repair the original? You could jump across this part and the radio should operate.

Hey Norm,
Thanks. Yes it's a Philco. You know I didn't even notice I had not listed the brand until I checked in sometime yesterday and seen your reply. That's something. I finished the set day before yesterday. I had assumed from the burnt condition the part was bad. But I took a reading and got about 5.8 ohms after knocking off .6. I slowly removed the burnt tar like coating. And it's sticky and you got to use a solvent of sorts to get it off your fingers as you well know. I knew it wasn't open so I left it alone.

I replaced all capacitors except the mica and replaced most of the resistors, even a 39K in a 33K spot from previous repair. I also replaced a 22 MFD in the 4 MFD place from a recent repair. Tho the 22 was good I figured it was a little too much. There was a 7B8 in the 7J7 slot. The 7C6 was bad. I replaced all the rubber coated wire and sleeved any going to the IF's. The set needed some plain old clean up especially the pushbutton mechanism. I did have to replace the rubber bushings. Had some nice phono motor ones and it works real smooth now. Other than needing a escutcheon for the pushbuttons everything seems just fine so far. The cabinet is in good enough shape to leave alone. On my last try at refinishing I ended up with a chocolate color! I'm going to post for the escutcheon and keep a lookout for a junker.
