silvertone 4588b information

Hi...I was GIVEN a 4588b silvertone shortwave radio. (first old radio)
It is in working condition now after one visible bad resistor replacement.
It was in a basement for many years ...but for now its OK.

I would like a manual for this.. To operate it properly.
I also am missing the "dial cover" and have a cracked cover retainer ring.

Can anyone tell me where to get the MANUAL and some parts?
I seem to be hooked on geting this in very good shape as it is a CLASSIC
and deserves the special care!

Thanks,, steve

(my background is some electrical/electronic..schematics can be understood
at a basic level!)

Hi Steve:

One note - before you put the radio in regular use, make sure to replace those electrolytic capacitors
and the paper-foil capacitors too. These things are notorious for going
bad - and it could potentially blow out nearly irreplaceable things
like transformers.

Enjoy your radio. You'll be hooked onto the hobby. It's addicting, albeit sometimes
very frustrating and expensive. :-)
