I like to build tube radios, but here in Brazil (South America) it's impossible to find fine variable condensors. I can find some that are just horrible, made for portable transistorized receivers in 80's. Where there is in Internet a site that sell these parts?
Here it's very difficult to find old radios to get the condensors (and they are expensive, around US$500!)

Another source is R F Parts Inc. prices are in the $10-20 range. Also look at the Xtal Set Society website. And don't forget E-bay auction house (www.ebay.com).
By the way Martin, Are you working with 1 1/2 volt tubes? If so I would like to swap Ideas with you.

I'm also building a crystal radio and i was wondering what would make the radio pick up a signal as far away as possible from the source frequency.
