I have a Zenith Royal 20 transistor radio, it needs 2 1.2 volt mercury batteries the part # is Z-640, does anyone know if I can locate them or suggest a subtitute, these batteries are small so I can't even put in 2 AAA's. Ralph Schneider

If you can't find what you're looking for, how about one or more coin-style or button batteries?

Are the two mercury batteries wired in series to give 2.4V? For example, lithiums put out 3V which might be OK, but you can come up with other voltages with various combinations of button cells. If you have room, you could put two or more in parallel for longer life? You'd need a battery holder, of course.

Sorry for three posts, my browser was acting up :-(

You may want to consider Nicad or Nimh rechargeable batteries. I beleive these put out 1.2V each

Also, look at Batteries Plus. They have all sorts of batteries....ones you'd never even think were still made.
