1B1 ballast tube
11/14/2006 3:20:31 PMJon
Just picked up a Silvertone mod. 1926 battery set. It is missing the 1-B-1 ballast tube. Looking at the schematic, it looks like the ballast uses only two pins for an inline resister. Anyone have an idea if I can use a high wattage resister and what value in place of the tube? I bave tried to calculate but come up with a different number each time. many thanks,
Jon.

Jon,

1B1 ballast rated at 1.0 volt .36 amp 2.8 Ohms Ballast for 2v battery operation from 3.2v dry battery.

Hi

You could use a small resistor but it's not necessary if you are able to supply 2 volts to tube filaments. Just jump the ballast pins.

Norm,
Great idea. I like these battery sets as they are usually found much cheaper than a.c. sets and I like to assemble the batteries to keep them as original as possible. many thanks,
Jon.
