Hi All I just picked up a philco 39-55 radio , this has the circuits for the mystery remote , which I unforunately do not have, but my question is the 2a4g tube called the thyratron, what is the purpose of this tube in the circuit , I never heard of a thyratron tube before this...
Thanks

Hi

A thyratron is a gas filled tube that operates like a switch. No current is drawn until the gas ionizes. Then the tube passes high current. It's used in some radios to operate a stepper switch.
