decals

Forum,
Found an interesting offering today from a web site. Trying to create my own decals for a front RCA logo, went looking for the blank material to use in my printer, and found it. Most printers/software have the ability to print a mirror image, and for those with a little computer savvy and the right application software, can create dial scales in many fonts/sizes and apply to the back of acrylic/glass/plexiglas to make a reproduction dial scale. For those impossible to find broken dial glasses, a new way. Go to discountmugs.com, and look around.

I think this is a GREAT way to make replacement dial scales. To transfer onto glass or plexi-glass or the more flexible thinner bendable 20 mil poly-acrylic or mylar plastic dials or whatever clear plastic.
Also for making front panel 'volume' or 'tone' control indicators and cretainly for replacing logos.

If you can get a copy of an old logo or dial scale. Just scan it or save the digital image found on-line and import it into your graphic program ( I use photoshop) then simply print out either with a laser-printer or inkjet-printer onto the 'clear' water-transfer paper. Then spray it with Krylon if you want a shiny surface that faces right-reading normal .
Or just spray to protect it a bit if you are transferring ( wrong-reading or reverse) onto the back of a dial glass ot plastic dial lense.
here's a source for the material and plenty of examples and instructions:

Peter,
I noted several re-flocking jobs you have done successfully. Need some help. Pls contact by email with all your suggestions as to materials, methods etc. Not happy with the Donjer flocking. It looks nothing like the old stuff I removed. I'm just about ready to give my carpet a haircut (its the right color) or go buy some paint brushes (and give them a haircut)to get the same texture/color as the original.

Huh? Re-flocking??

I was commenting only on water-Decals... and the materials for that.

Now...I've probably been told to ''get flocked'' many times I'm sure... but I have not done anything with flocking publicly.. at least not to my knowledge... so I'm confused ...lol

You must have been replying to something else... no?

Peter,
Sorry, thought I remembered one of your ebay offerings from a while back as a phono, but you know what they say. The mind is the first thing to go, but in my case, it was the 2nd or 3rd, don't remember!!!
