I must be looking at the wrong circuit? Radiola 82 doesn't have AVC in my schematics.

:Hello, all: I am writing again about my WR8 (same as radiola 82). I am stumped. The automatic volume control does not work. Strong stations come in blasting, volume must be turned up for weak stations. Sensitivity seems okay. The 0.5MFD cap in the AVC circuit does not appear to be leaky, but I replaced it anyway and no change in operation. I checked all of the resistors and replaced any that were off. No improvement. Tried swapping a few tubes out (all tested okay). Any suggestions would be appreciated. Mark from Kalamazoo

That's just a voltage divider between B+ and B-. It supplies reduced voltage to screen grids on your 24 tubes.
The circuit in Beitmans's, page 177, shows Radiola 82 using #24 tubes. Later radios with AVC used #35 tubes which were remote cutoff. These still operate but at reduced gain with AVC voltage. Number 24 tubes cut off around -3 volts on grid #1.

:Hi, Norm: Am I mistaken? I assumed that the circuit between the 18,000 and 14,300 ohm resitors was AVC. If not, then I guess there is nothing wrong! I thought I had read somewhere that this model did have AVC. Thanks. Mark
