Precision Signal Tracer 202
9/29/2006 6:30:54 PMplanigan
I have this unit and want to rebuild it but I have problems with getting schematic. I downloaded manual from bama but came with two schematics that have different circuitry and tubes. Can only guess which one is correct and I don't intend to start rebuilding on a hunch. Can purchase manual for $28.00 plus $8.00 for s&h, thats more than I paid for set with s&h. Before I purchase manual, or drop the project, I am posting here and Antique to see if anyone can help.
Appreciate your responses. PL

I wouldn't buy the manual for $28 + 8 = $36. That sounds like a rip off.

If you've got it narrowed down to two schematics from BAMA, you should be able to figure out which one applies?

A signal tracer is usually just an untuned radio ckt, AF and RF. If yours works, after a fashion, it should be just a matter of recapping, matching the cap values labeled on each one.

If it doesn't work, then troubleshooting should be pretty much like a simple radio. Troubleshoot the audio first, then the RF. If you have a signal generator, that would help with troubleshooting -- otherwise, you can just use a known-good radio.
