Telefunken ID Help!!
5/12/2000 11:31:36 AMRennee Blas
I have been looking for some information (which has led me to your
webpage) And haven't had any luck as of yet.

Here is my situation,

About two months ago I had a house fire, which did extensive damage to
our house (Thank God we were all OK) One of the items that was totally
obliterated was an old Telefunken Floor Model Phonograph/Radio

And in all the years of owning it, we never really paid it much
attention (Like, The Model) To us it was simply a beautiful piece of
work

I'll try to describe it as best as possible in hopes you may know the
model and even possibly a value (It was in near mint condition with all
functions working properly)

As I said earlier it was a floor model Telefunken (possibly 50's
vintage) the top opened up to reveal the turn table and small storage
area, on the front (about half way down) a panel pulled down to reveal
the tuner (am/fm/sw) and all the bakelite push buttons for tone etc
(it had a really cool green neon? light that glowed while tuning)
Below this opening was another drop down door that was basically a
storage area. On the left and right side of the console(on the front)
Were speakers as well as two pull out (sort of hinged) speakers mounted
into each side panel.

Well that is pretty much the best I can describe it (it almost looked
mahogany..teak possibly)

I would really appreciate any help!!

Thanks!!!!

Hi, I have seen variations of the console you describe, and the fifties is the correct era for it. Teak seems to be the most common veneer that I have seen on them.

Perhaps your best bet is to contact: webmaster@oldradios.de via e-mail. He should be able to identify which models most likely qualify. The page(s) of the site can be accsessed via the url: http://www.oldradios.de/index.html (This is "Radio Wumpus").
