Scott - Repair hole in speaker
5/11/2000 5:19:51 PMDana
Hi all,

I have a Scott speaker that has a finger sized hole in it. There is not enough speaker fabric left to fill in the hole during the repair process. I have heard that contruction paper is used fill in such holes. Any other ideas? ... thanks.

Is the hole in the grille cloth or the cone of the speaker? Construction paper is about the same thickness as the cone material, and can be used, however there is a little bit of degradation in reproduction quality- usually only measurable with lab equipment.

If it is in the fabric of the grille cloth, a seamless repair is not the easiest to accomplish, and may not work. Construction paper can give you a match for color, but will only make the damage a little less visible. If you can get to frayed ends of the fabric, you might try to "reweave" the area with some of the longer frayed end threads, but here again, it won't be perfect.
