Silvertone R 1261 Schematics

Hello again! This refers back to a message I left on Sunday re a Silvertone R1261 that has a blown power transformer. The nice service tech at AES is trying to match up a suitable transformer from their stock, but he wants to see the schematic for himself (presumably to make sure I don't botch it). Problem is, he can not find the circuit in his library, and my only copy is glued to the bottom of the cabinet. Can you help us by sending me a schematic? Also, since finding a transformer with HV, 5V, and a 24V CT outputs in one unit is unlikely, what do you think of having a separate 24 volt CT transformer? Thanks....

Hi Neal

Sears R1261 schematic is available here on nostalgiaair and in Rider Vol #12, Sears 12-15. You would be better off changing the 25C6G tube to a 6Y6G and rewire the filaments for 6.3 volts. Both tubes are the same except filament voltage.

If you change tubes the transformer will need 6.3 volts @ 3 amps, 5 volts @ 2 amps and 250 volts each side of center tap high voltage winding. AES P-T270CBX will be ok if it fits in your radio.

You would save money if a transformer was taken out of another radio. A new transformer will cost around $50.
