I just received the above unit which was made in West Germany. I don't have any idea if the manufacturer was German or what. It's a Broadcast, FM and SW receiver with a dial and antenna pulley system that looks like a nightmare ready to occur. Tube are 50L6, 35Z5, 12SK7, 12SA7 and 12SQ7. Serial number 206972. A plug in and sweep of all bands picked up one on AM but turned set off before really trying to find any stations, afraid something might blow although no hum. PL

Dear Anon, GOOD POINT! I must have been day dreaming or something when I posted, sorry. I'm trying to locate schematic and any other data I can before touching it again. Is AJA a major German manufacturer?

AJA was a German company that went bankrupt in the late 50's and their leftovers were purchased by someone else and marketed in the USA in late 50's, maybe into early 60s. At least that's how I remember the tale as related to me a couple of years back. I am no expert on German sets, but the very American tube lineup seems a bit odd. The set I worked on had the usual small glass euro tube line up. Never could find a schematic, but other, more common name German sets with the same tube line up provided schematics that were close enough.
Good luck.

Jim, your right about the line up of tubes, I must have switched list with another. The tubes are 6DU6, 6AJ8, 6DA6, 6AK8, 6BK5 and 6AQ8. There is another tube like item listed as B250-C75N2 that I have not been able to identify. I have ordered cap to replace paper caps in set. Can't find schematic so I'm hoping caps will get me up and running. Two 50mf electrolytics will also be replaced. Also there is a 30K 1W resistor that looks like it over heats (color bands discolored) that I'm replacing with a 2W. Any one have any ideas where I might locate a schematic?

Still can't find a schematic for this unit. Interesting thing, I now know "schaltplane" in German is our schematic and "suche" means search. Went on a German antigue radio net without thinking (dah) its written in German. Think I'll try an English site, being near continent they may have some German schematics. PL
