Motorola WR3 wireless phono

Hi just got a Motorola wireless phono .The cord is very bad and would like to replace it.It is a strange cord with three wires all in one with one of the wires taped and the other two attached to the plug ?Is their subpose to be an aeral on this unit? thanks

If the thrid wire is ribbed then it is the antenna. Looking at the schematic reveals 3 wires going to the wall plug. One is unconnected at the plug end and connects to a small capacitor to the transmitter inside the cabinet.

::Hi all wires ribbed together than the go to plug bare wire was taped up the cord is very very brittle and flaking bare in places can I slice wire where good inside and adding a third leaving it bare? thanks andy
