Reference Books?

Can anyone tell me the names of the best reference books to have on hand for antique radio repair? Also the best books for vacuum tubes? I realize their are probably quite a few but there must be some "must have"ones. My new hobby of restoring old radios is great and I have restored a couple already but they were not too difficult,I don't want any mistakes on the classic models! Thanks in advance everyone!

I like "Old Time radios!" restoration and repair by Joseph J Carr.. Good basic reference for the beginner..

Aslo i've heard the old copies of "Elements of Radio" by Marcus and Horton that turn up on e bay every so often are excellent..I dont have a copy personally, someone else might be able to tell you more about this book..

Wayne, if you run across an intact copy of "The Radio Amateur's
Handbook" from the 1950's and/or the 1960's, buy it. It has a lot
of good vacuum tube theory, a good vacuum tube data/basing section
in the back and good sections on receiver theory, measurements and
antennas. Despite the title, it's considered the "bible" for anyone
involved in nearly any facet of electronics.

Another good book to get is an older version of the tube data manuals
published by GE, RCA or Sylvania.

The various schematic sources can get a little expensive, but there are
several sterling gentlemen on the two main antique radio forums who will
e-mail you copies of schematics upon request.
