help with Grundig 3059
7/29/2006 5:10:34 PMmarty
Hello:

I purchased a Grundig 3059 from a salvage store. Good overall condition. Blown 5a fuse. Replaced fuse, cleaned the pots and tube connections and and poked around before plugging it in. Turned "on", the indicator lights illuminate and the tubes glowed. No sound of any kind at any combination of settings shut it off.

Weeks later, I got around to recapping it.
I replaced the wax caps and the electrolytics.

Same result - when turned on, the indicator lights are illuminated but there is no sound nor hum.

I have a copy of the schematic.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Next step = test tubes (?)

Hi MAR

Measure B+ voltages. DC B+ voltage starts at the rectifier and will be highest there. Measure plate voltage on the output tube. Not sure of your circuit but plates & screen grids should bave positive voltage.

A 5 amp fuse seems large for a radio?
