Are voltages low? This radio has a selenium rectifier. Over time voltage drop across this type of rectifier can increase. Should be a decent radio as it has an RF stage.

:Folks. Radio number 4 of my USA collection is now on the bench.I have a GE Model 440 that gives poor output volume.Any leads would help.Another 40 to go so at one every two weeks that's going to take .........well some time.

DC Voltages up to a nice 120 instead of the 70Volts from the 'Dickie' Rectifier. Replaced it with a modern diode. Sounds much brighter and with increased volume. Next step is realignment. Phew!
