Help, i recently came across a real nice 7K1. The cabinet is in exceptional condition and would require a little refinishing. The radio does power on and all the lights work. However it emits a loud "humming" noise.
My question is two part: 1. How old is this thing? 2. How much is something like this worth in it's present condition? Please help!!

Hi Mike

Your radio was made in 1937. It has a value of $100-$125 in Collectors Guide to Antique Radios but it's worth what someone is willing to pay... An antique store may get several hundred dollars in working condition.

Hum is usually caused by bad filter caps. They aren't hard to replace and the schematic should be available here on nostalgiaair.
