Meissner Instruction Manual
7/17/2006 11:12:58 PMCarl Crabtree
I have an instruction manual published by Meissner Mfg. Co. in 1943(WW II) "Dedicated to the Radio Student and Defense Trainee". It includes a discussion of Radio coils, antennas and FM theory. However it is primarily an instruction manual for building Meissner radio kits - everthing from a "one tube Midgit Radio to a 17 tube 5 band receiver to a Hi-fidelity Public Address Tuner. Has anyone ever seen one of these kits or perhaps built One? While the insructions aren't elaborate they seem pretty straight forward. There is instruction for assembling an "FM Receptor" that could be "operated with any radio that has terminals for a phonograph pick-up." A very interesting bit of literature that covers many other pieces of equipment.

Hi, Carl. That pub sounds very interesting. How many pages does it have? Several of us have websites and one of us could scan it and put it on the web.

This manual is 168 pages about 8 1/2 by 11 inches, with schematics, pictorial diagrams, and lots of rather small printed matter covering servicing information for a factory assembled radio and test equipment, as well as diagrams and assembly instuctions for radio kits. About 36 Devices in all. This material was copyrighted in 1943 by Meissner and I don't know if anyone owns a copyright at the present time -I don't even know if the company still exist.

There is a 1953 copy of the Meissner manual on the web, but is an extremely large file, almost 87mb.
