I had problems with alignment as the first IF seemed to
pull the local osc. off frequency and if peaked to high
the IF would go into oscillation.
I also had some problems with the local osc. tracking as there
seems to be 2 adjustments, one on the tuning cap which
I suspect is for SW (?) and one on the chassis. There are
3 timmers on chassis, 1 for BC, middle one for ? and most front one
for SW. I do have the schematic but no alignment
instructions.
Any ideas out there? Thanks in advance.

The IF stage may be going into oscillation. Be sure all bypass caps are in place. If you are using a glass IF Amplifier tube slielding may help. If all else fails slightly detuning an IF Transformer should stop the problem.
I'll look for alignment instructions.

: Hello:
: I am restoring a Crosley 66TW. I have replaced all caps
: including the mica, resistors that were over 10% in
: marked value, NOS tubes. The radio is very very sensitive
: on BC and SW. But, I am getting a squeal on all stations
: which is worse on BC. Not a loud squeal but the weaker
: the station the more noticable. Seems worse on the low end
: of the BC band. Sounds like a SW receiver with the BFO
: turned on but weak. The pitch lowers as the station is
: zeroed in to center and starts up again in pitch as you move
: off.
