Meteor 7213

I have a Meteor (Sears) 7213 that has absolutely no sound. I think the speaker might be bad. The filiment and DC voltages are correct, the radio has been recapped and an audio signal can be seen with a scope on the plate of the 25L6G.

The field coil measures about 450 ohms which is correct according to the schematic. The primary of the output transformer measures 460 ohms and the secondary about 1 ohm. Do these readings semm ok?

If the speaker is bad, where can I find a replacement or get this one repaired?

Thanks.

Speaker certainly seems to have failed. But would want to use a pair of clip leads to temporarily use a 4 ohm permanent magnet speaker across the audio output transformer.

Look at http://www.oldradioparts.com/2a32fl.txt

This is Playthings of the Past.

Hi Mike:
I just fixed a radio for a guy with exactly the same problem. In this case it was a bad solder connection where the voice coil wires attach to the terminals. The connection looked fine and I thought it was the speaker to. Give it try, you have nothing to loose.

Thanks for the replies.

There was a bad solder joint on one of the voice coil wires. To get at the solder joints I had to cut out the speaker cone. I'm going to glue the cone back in position with maybe a little reinforcement where it connects to the voice coil. After this it should be good to go.

Thanks again!
