I have a rectifier tube, i can't find any numbers. It looks just like an 80, but this one is much larger, still has the 4 pin base. Any thoughts????
Thanks JK

What is its dimensions? Maybe a 5Z3? Richard

Hi

A 5Z3 is the same size as 5U4G except it has only 4 pins. An 83 is same size, with 4 pins but is a mercury vapor rectifier. The 83 will glow purple in operation.

Hi JK

Tung Sol did have their own set of numbers on some tubes. Test it as an 80. A 5Z3 will test strong. An 83 will also but show purple color in operation.

Lud Sibley would know for sure.
