RCA duo 381

I want to change the electrolytics in this RCA Model 381 and the original manual shows C69 with the + going to ground. Is that right or a misprint?

John, here's the Rider's schematic: http://www.nostalgiaair.org/PagesByModel/491/M0015491.pdf

The Rider's is very poor quality, and I didn't readily find C69 on either the schematic or the parts list. Can you point us to it?

The Rider's schematic doesn't show e-cap polarities, but you can usually figure it out knowing that the most positive voltage in the set is the rectifier cathode.

Having such a cap with + tied to ground isn't all that unusual. If you have an RCA schematic, I would trust it. Also, is there a polarity marking on the original cap?

C69 is in the power supply off of the negatives of C67 and C68 of the two 'lytics in the pi filter and my RCA service notes show the + of C69 going to ground...seems wrong to me and maybe I will just leave the old one in there, it's part of a multi section can.

First, concur with Doug's posting.

C69 positive terminal should connect to the chassis. Like Doug says, it's not unusual. The center-tap of the power transformer is the most negative place in the radio. This is done to reverse bias the audio output tubes properly.
