RE: Philco 49-506

Hi All!
I'm in the process of restoring a Philco Model 49-506, and in need of the speaker and mounting brackets for the speaker and the output transformer, anyone know of where I could get these parts? I've been searching endlessly with no luck.

Mark, here's your set's schematic:

This is pretty much a garden variety AC/DC All-American-5 radio. You could canabalize just about any speaker and audio xfmr from any juker AA5 and make it work. The work will come in figuring out whatever mods are needed to make it physically fit.

Is your speaker/xfmr missing? If so, somebody probably canabalized it ahead of you.

:Hi Doug
No, the speaker is there, but its completely destroyed, and the mounting brackets are gone for the tranformer and speaker.

:Hi Doug
Well after careful consideration, and looking over the rest of the destroyed chassis underneath, I decided to scrap the chassis, get what I could out of it, I saved the cabinet and refinished it, the cabinet looks fantastic now! I was able to find a Philco 48-200 chassis, and judging what I can of the photos, it should make a nice fit in this cabinet of the 49-506, the only thing I might have to deal with is the dial and tuner line up, possibly not, I won't know for sure until I get the 48-200 chassis, at least this chassis is in restorable condition, thats a plus! by the way I noticed a name written on the bottom of the cabinet, it said "Bill Moffit" does this mean anything too you?
