Howard #368

I have 2 Howard model 368 radios. One of these radios has
a push button tuner mounted on top of the cabinet. The
other radio does not have this tuner.

The radio without the tuner is working.

The chassis on these radios look to be identical, but if
I unplug the push button tuner, the radio will not work.
The push button tuner is not working, and I cannot find
a schematic for this tuner. I can see physical damage to
a coil in this tuner.

A couple of questions.

What is the model# of the tuner & is a schematic available?

Why do the chassis appear to be identical, and this radio
quits working when the tuner is unplugged?

Thanks for any input.

Hi Craig

Could someone have made the push button tuner? I didn't find a schematic which covers an add on tuner.

If someone did make the tuner they would have opened a circuit in the radio. The push buttons will complete the circuit through added coil or other components.

You should compare radios and most likely need to add a couple jumpers. The radio schematic is available here on nostalgiaair.
