B&K Model 700 tube tester
3/12/2000 2:32:26 PMWayne Frappier
Can anyone tell me if I replace the origional meter with a new one, will I have trouble calibrating it? Will I need tubes that have been tested already,or can I use another method? B&K haven't helped at all, but I really want to get this up and running again as it worked great before. Thanks in advance anyone!

Wayne, your problems with replacing that meter will be more mechanical
than anything. Just make sure that it is being used as an ammeter and
not a voltmeter (they sometimes sneak a multiplying resistor inside the
movement case and can fool you). If an ammeter, a meter wiht the same
full scale current will be sufficient. It's getting the old scale to
fit the new meter that'll be the problem, I'm sure. But if your new
meter is the same physical size, has the same arc swing, same f.s. current,
you should be home free. In general, tube testers are sloppy enough
that a recalibration won't be necessary.

If you're working by the seat of your pants and don't have a manual,
I see that there's one listed for $19 at:

Hi Wayne, I have the schematic for your tester. If you don't have it I can scan it and send to you. Don Black.
