UPS damaged a nice Crosley 648 Sexette radio. I will be getting my money back but I hate to see this set go to waste. It has a 4" crack from back to front and where the crack starts a 3/4" by 1" pie shaped peice is broken out. I have put the peice back on and it looks very good. What kind of glue should I use? The color of the set was white but yellowed with age, what kind of paint should I use? Any other procedures involved?
Many Thanks, Jim

Here's how I've repaired a few. Reinforce the break with a piece of 1/8" or 3/16"lucite about 3" wide and the length of the crack glued to the inside with contact cement. Also use contact cement on the chip that broke out. To even out any irregularities, rub the crack area lightly with 600 grit sandpaper. Paint with a spray can of top quality enamel - not the $1.89 stuff. The crack will still be slightly visible - there is no way to make it perfect again, but it will look good on a shelf. Good luck.
