Check this list for replacement IF Transformers:

They don't have to be the exact size to work. Look for some that will fit inside your existing cans with a similar frequency.

:UPS broke my radio! It's a Firestone (Air Chief) model R-1651-AS. Need the IF transformers. The ceramic coil forms were snapped off at the top of the cans. Chassis no. is R-165 made by Stewart-Warner.

There is a guy from Brazil that gets on this forum "Indalicio" who could rewind and fully repair them for you as a last resort.. only as it cost a bit to ship stuff down there..
But Indalicio is doing exactly that for me as we speak.
He's rewinding two Howard IF coils that were totaly open. Both primary and secondary in one can and the Pimary of the other.
I also had a Zenith 6d-525 chassis totally catch fire and get charred beyond recognition in my oven while drying once... and Indalicio asked to try to completely rebuild it for me...as I was about to scrap it.
Said he'd re-do the whole thing...including winding all coils, re-installing all new tube sockets and chrome-plating the chassis too... and gold plating the IF cans... he will also completely re-finish the wooden cabinet to original.
... All this at a steal of a price too!!!...
So just ask him and I'm sure he can oblige you.

Peter: Thanks for the info on Indalicio! I saved his contact info. The internal damage is just too severe to consider trying to salvage them. Too many pieces to glue. They sheered off inside the cans. I'm assuming the ceramic forms being brittle and the mass below with the coils was enough given a hard shock to sheer them away from the trimmer section above. The damage is fresh, not old since the breaks have a new white complexion.
Posted in other radio discussion venues for help but this is the only one that has responded so far. Thanks again!

This would seem a good time bring up another question. On these Miller and Meissner radio parts, is there a book that gives the electrical and mechanical data? Same goes for the Mallory replacement controls.
A Google search normally draws a blank.

The IF transformers was the easy part. Most of the work was cleaning up shoddy workmanship, wiring errors, and an overlooked leaky electrolytic in the power supply. All other caps were replaced. Next was an alignment. Still it was fun making it a happy radio again!
