Agree about the resistor but you have another problem.
First the resistor is usually 1 meg built in the socket between pins #2 and #4. Need to open the socket to replace this resistor.
Second -2 volts isn't enough to have much eye movement. Either something is loading down the AVC line, like a leaky cap, or signal isn't strong enough. Be sure your radio is aligned. Monitor the AVC line to adjust IF Transformers for max negative voltage. Might need a larger antenna?
To close a 6E5 eye AVC voltage needs to be -8 volts, 6U5 -22 volts. Most radios should get to -10 or -15 volts on a strong station.

:I am working on this Stromberg Carlson model 832 and am having trouble with the tuning eye tube. The radio has been recapped and any resistors that were out of tolerance were changed out. It works very good, lots of distant stations and very nice tone. The problem is the tuning eye has very little response when tuning in a station, only a few degrees of movement. I have checked the avc voltage and it varies from about -.02 to -2 volts, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
