Does Anyone know what this is?

Does anyone know what this is? Is it a phono preamp? Power supply? Does anyone know what tube would have gone in it from the description at the bottom?

AC to wall outlet goes to 2 and 7

2 bare wires go to 1 and 8

And 1/4 inch jack goes to a small transformer.

Oh and it also has a pot on it? Volume?

While I don't see any coil, it might be a phono oscillator. You might try the 117L7 or 117M7 base
diagrams against the socket you've got. I don't see a rectifier, but 1/2 of a 6SL7 could be used for that.

Whatever it is, it looks homebrew. Good luck.

I see 1 transformer with 3 leads on top, the red cotton wire has been spliced onto a red plastic under the spaghetti sleeve. Are there any more xformer leads hidden below it ? I see three paper caps and one older block style cap sort of hidden in the rear.. One three point terminal strip. One potentiometer that looks to be hooked up in a vol control configuration with two finer wires extending from it. One octal socket. A shown 2.2meg 1/2 w carbon composition resistor should end up going to a 1st grid circuit if this is indeed an amp/preamp circuit function..
Yet, there seems to be no proviso for any B+ filter capacitor(s).
You could be more forth coming in info if you were to trace down components and interconnects and making of a rough schema of the unit.
When I see the ¼ in jack I want to think of an output to an old hi-z headphone(s)…..or if an input….a guitar input.

If its design WAS utilizing a 117XX family with its fil AC across 2-7……its probably an old cast off home brew of Thomas’s, as he’s the only person I have know of that is fixated/mesmerized on that old tube family series.

There are 3 Transformer leads underneath coming from the other side of the small transformer.

Maybe the plug actualy goes to something else that is homwbrew, they may have connected it to the filtered supply of the radio? Are there any other external leads to this that may have been cutt off or yanked out? Maybe trace the connections, as the others suggest.
