Looking for modern equivalents.......
2/25/2006 9:53:22 AMMILTON
Hello Gentlemen, I decided to put in working order a WESTON 981 tube tester, as an old unit, I have found that a part that looks like a ½ watt resistor named by the parts list as AMPERITE BALLAST was carbonized and another part named SELENIUM RECTIFIER which have a shape like a small capacitor need to be replaced.
If somebody could tell me where to find some modern replacement for these parts I would appreciate it a lot.
Thanks

Milton V.

I'm not sure about the ballast .. they are usually tubes but how and where is it shown on the schematic?
I looked at the schematic for the 901 here on this site under references/manuals and I didn't see it.
The silenium rectifier can be replaced with a silicon rectifier/diode 1n4004 or 1n4007 Cheap... 25 cents at the most.

Manual and schematic of Weston 981 is found at Bama.
Tha amperite ballast is the part R-13.
