RCA Victor T6-2 parts list and help

We are taking apart 2 radios in our class. We are having trouble finding any readable parts lists from the RCA redbook. Most of the components are old and not working. We have the tube numbers and al of the wiring needs to be redone. please contact me if you have advice.

You need to find a schmatic. I see a T6-1 and a T-62 under "Resources," but no T6-2. If you can't find the exact model no., maybe you can find a schematic that is close enough.

The values of components, such as capacitors and resistors, are typically identified with markings or symbols right on the component.

You say: "Most of the components are old and not working." The caps, particulary the electrolytic filter caps, should probably be replaced, and maybe some of the resistors have drifted up out of tolerance, but otherwise, I'd expect that most of the components WOULD be working - e.g., coils, switches, most of the tubes, transformers, speaker, etc. Don't be too hasty.

Except for removing the chassis from the cabinet, I would not "take the radios apart." The first order of business, in my opinion, after replaceing the filter caps, is to start troubleshooting and to get the radio working after a fashion.

Electronics Student,

There is a schematic on this site in Resources under Canadian RCA for the T6-2 at http://www.nostalgiaair.org/Resources/085/M0030085.htm

The T6-2 is a Canadian radio. From you message i understand that you are having trouble finding the parts listing from the RCA Red BooK. Unfortunately Volume 1 did not give parts lists and I find my Red book schematic is poor also. There should be a schematic for that radio on this site althoug the early RCC schematics can be hard to read also.

Feel free to email me if you want to confirm a part value.

Hope you put the radios back together in working order once you're through with them...restore them, too.

Thomas
