I've got a Westinghouse H-198. I've got a couple of questions before i begin to replace the electolytics and any other defective part. My question is this, What is your opinion on the old ceramic caps in this set? I have not tested them for shorts yet. A few (9) are mica, these i know should be OK. The others are also color coded ceramic disc caps, What is the color code of these caps. I like this radio. Everything under the chasis was well thought out, I have room to work on it! This is also the first AM/FM radio i have restored, so this could be an interesting expirience. Thanks for all of your repliies.

Hello Friend.
Half excuse my English scratched. The colors found in the ceramic capacitores, are the values of the same ones. Its reading will be the same to the one of the resistores, poréma the electric greatness they are different. For example: When reading Yellow Blue Orange, in a resistor, you translate as being 47 K, in a capacitor will be 47 nfd.
Substituting Eletroliticos and the resistores that are out 10% of configuration, substitute the paper capacitores or oil. You will have like this an excelnete radio.

Thanks. I wasn't quite sure about the color coding on those caps. Now i can start to replace the eleltrolytics, and the foil caps. The cainet has a piece of the vieneer missing (about 1" wide and 2"long triangle). Any suggestions on repairing this? The cabinet is going to get sanded and stained. It's definetly seen better days. Also missing the knob for the band selector, know where i can find one of these? Thanks again for your help. :)
