sig gen switches question
1/24/2006 1:40:03 AMsean
Hello I think I know the answer to this one.......if my gen has 2 jacks rf and af then all I would need to do is install a switch to connect the rf to the af so I dont have to mess with the af jack, and since the grounds of the 2 jacks are the same(the case of the unit) all I need is a single pole single throw switch so I can have one set of leads

Go to Bama and download the manual for your generator, Read it, if it needed an extra switch it would be there from the factory.

:Hi, that would be great. My email address is fumplet@sbcglobal.net. I tried to get the djvu plugin which seemed to change the icon from a command one to the djvu one, but when I click on it still, I get the usuall page cannot be displayed. It would be so nice to use the bama page, but I dont see how to get it to work. I tried clicking on something that used adobe acrobat reader, but still no luck, must be my computer

Usually the audio jack is for injecting audio instead of using the built in tone. There should be a switch on the generator which allows you to choose between the built in tone and this jack. There's no need for modification then. Also, you can use the audio injection jack for transmitting music. Connect a long wire to the RF output of your generator. Connect your CD player to the audio input. Tune the generator to a dead spot on the AM dial. Tune your radio to this spot. Listen and enjoy the fairly weak signal.

:hello, this af jack says output also and I measured it.....it outputs audio freqs. So do I then just connect the rf and af jacks together? for a modulated signal?

Probably not. Why don't you try tuning in a generator signal with a good radio first, to see if the generator modulates internally.

I'd think you would need a single-pole, DOUBLE-throw switch.

But I'm wondering what particular convenience the switch would afford? Can't you just move one set of leads back and forth between the RF and AF jacks, as needed? If the two jacks aren't the same or don't match you leads, you could change the jacks.

Just my 2 cents worth.
