1950"s Admiral Radio/ Phonograph rc550 cartridge &needle

Hi I own a 1950's Admiral TV console which I have had since the mid 60's. I am in the process of trying to fix the phonograph model rc550. It is in need of a new spindle ( the center of the record slides on this and it allows one to stack records to be played) My spindle is broken at the stacking point. I would also like to find needles for the Admiral cartridge #409A13. The needles are Admiral part #98A15-19. Lastly on a second phonograph, same Rc550, I am not able to get any sound from the record. Don't know if it is the cartridge or a tube problem from the radio which the phono sits on top of. Any help would be greatly appreciated. C.W.

C.W Hi , Check posting below this one for link offered to me by Doug Criner. It will be under "Admiral RC170A".That site has quite a few cartridges. There are also other sites out there. That one is good because it has photos.I still have not found mine yet.Mine is a model A1372.The hold up is I do not actually have the cartridge.Bought the unit on auction with out it.Does your cartridge have a manufactuers name besides Admiral on it?They may have used the same cartridge manufactuerer over the year and that would provide me a clue. Thanks and good luck in your search !

:Hi Bill, Thanks for the reply and yes my cartridge does say Admiral on it. I was also able to see a schematic with pictures of the parts I was looking for on this web site so if you haven't already go and see if they have one and numbers for your parts.

W.C , Thanks for the info !It appears that I will have a difficult time getting a cartridge for this .
I am learning as I go.I asked one cartridge seller and they could not cross reference the Admiral number.
I am thinking that the cartridge is a ceramic type with high output to drive the audio amp directly. From what I read this is a typical scheme for low end combination record players . I am starting to think that I will have to find another player with a good cartridge on it. What makes me think this might be is the use of "rubber" in the cartridge. If it is anything like the rubber in a radio it will be bad. Hopefully they mean ceramic and not actually rubber.
Does anyone out there have a working one of these players ? Thanks again!

Hi Bill and Thanks for all the info. I took my phono to a guy here in town and he talked about it being crystal, mono pick up and 1.5 amps? Now I wish I would have written it down. Try the website For Your Listening Pleasure in upstate N.Y. Maybe they can help you. I will try them also. Sorry about these posts. I'm having trouble withs the format for them so excuse the black posts. Thanks again. C.W.
