Can anyone tell me what type of meter to buy to replace the meter in my tube tester? I bought it and the meter has been badly pegged and bent. Would it be a zero to 1ma full scale deflection? Thanks in advance anyone!

Hi Wayne, I'll scan the schematic for your B&K tube tester and email it to you. The bad news is the schematic doesn't seem to indicate the meter sensitivity. Look at the scale near the bottom around the movement center. Meters usually have the sensitivity marked there somewhere. If you can't find it, does the meter work at all? If you can disconnect it and wire a potentiometer, battery and meter in series with it, then adjust the pot for full scale deviation and read the current. Even if it's lost its acuracy you should be able to judge the full scale current. Good Luck, Don Black.

Hi, Wayne,

B&K is still in existance. I'd suggest trying them out to
see if they have that information. Although they won't even
consider supporting the model 700 because it's obsolete or
have any parts for it, hopefully they still have enough of
their internal documentation that they can answer the question
for you if you tell them that you're restoring an antique
test instrument of theirs. Their web site is www.bkprecision.com
and you can e-mail your inquiry right to their service department
at service@bkprecision.com

Good luck on the repair!

Dean
