I am a newbie to Transoceanic radios and have a question about G500 antennas. In all the photos I've seen they have the "z" broadcast and the extending shortwave antenna. Should the G500 also have a red loop shortwave magnet antenna? Any advice from current and former owners is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

David, the G500 only had the black Z wavemagnet attached to the lid of the radio this can be removed and if you have the suction cups and the twin lead red wire supposidly mount it to a window or some other conveinent location to help with reception the telescoping antenna is for short wave reception only, the first transoceanic or the bomber model had the red wavemagnet but was discontinued after the war started.
