On the inside, the amp chassis is 7B31 and the tuner chassis is 9B25. The amp has 7 tubes which are one 5U4 GB, four 6BQ5, and Two 12AU7. There is a part number listed on the inside of the cabinet which is 14-2613-4. It has two 12 inch speakers and two horns. Also has a stereo tape input in the back.
I would like some basic info regarding this unit. Is it worth restoring? I live in Tampa, Fl. Who can I contact for help in restoring? The unit is in very good cosmetic condition and is complete. Currently, there is a hum coming from all speakers but I cannot get a peep out of it on any input select, so I figure that there must be something wrong with the amp. Thats as much as I know. Thank you for you help.
Your Zenith is too new to be in Rider. You are probably right about the age. Information on 7B31 and 9B25 units are both in Sam's Photofact #453. You may be able to get this information through your local library or by calling Sam's at 800 428-7267.
If the hum is excessive, the electrolytic filter caps may need replacing. Richard@nostalgiaair.org lives in Florida.

: First, I am a newcomer to old radio so pardon my basic questions. I just purchased an "old" Zenith stereo, which I believe to be from around 1960, which is based on the fact that stereo came along in 1958 and the CD, Civil Defense, listing on the dial stopped around 1962. This is a console unit that stands about 30 inches high and about 45 inches long. It is black with three panels that have woven cane-like speaker grills. In the center panel is the tuner which reads "Zenith Stereophonic High Fidelity". It has six control knobs. Input selection, record comp., on-off/balance, bass, presence, and treble. Below is a "cobra-matic" turntable that slides out.
