Philco Model 16
12/19/2005 9:38:36 PMJohn
I have this Philco Model 16 that I just got through repairing so that it works, however, the tuning knob doesn't turn the dial scale. Upon a closer look there are two small rubber wheels that are half crumbled away along with a 3" or so dia. rubber rim that has multiple cracks. Where can I get replacements for these items or how can I repair them?

John: I'm not familiar with this particular set. But, your description reminds me of the small rubber tires that are used as pinions for tuning on many Atwater Kents. The replacement for them is to go to a hardware or autoparts store, and buy the minimum length of rubber hose with the appropriate i.d. and o.d. - and slice it for the required thickness.

Now, for that larger wheel, I'm at a loss.

Some thoughts on that 3" rubber rim. Could you lay down a bead of silicon rubber? Or maybe an O-ring?

Where there's a will, there's a way!

Doug, thanks for the ideas they sound good and I didn't think of using part of a hose. Thanks Again.

John,
Go to Chuck Schwark's site listed in Links to this forum. He's got the answer.
