Philco Model 531

Hi All,

I am looking for any information (date of manufacture, schematic, bill of material, etc) for a Philco Model 531 radio. Its a floor model, where you pull down a door to see and control the radio (it almost looks like a little desk). It does not have the capacitors in it that went bad on my 1938 Crosley. It does appear to be much older. My searches on the web have not turned up anything. The tube numbers used in it are UX226, CX326 and UX280.

Thanks, Jim

Jim: Slusser's guide lists it as a 1928 model, lowboy, 7 tubes, AC, value $120-140.

Am I reading your post correctly? - You pulled capacitors out of this 1928 radio and put them in a 1938 Crosley? I'll bet you meant to say "tubes"?

No. My Crosley had bad caps, so I replaced them. This Philco unit does not have near the amount of capacitors that the Crosley had.

OK, sorry, I misread your post. Have you got your Philco working?
