Tube Boxes

I have quite a number of tubes ratteling around & I'm looking for a distributer of boxes for them that won't cost me more than the tubes are worth. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm looking for 1000 of each of small, medium, & large (12ax7, 6sn7, st style).
Thanks - Pete

Pete......here are a few sites that sell boxes. I have purchased from them and they are all decent quality. Some are shipped flat and require glue to assemble (I used a "gluestick"). Others are shipped assembled but flattened. I'll tell you something though....they don't come cheap.

You can also buy them at Antique Electronic Supply.

But, like the man said, they don't come cheap.

The least expensive way I have found of storing a whole bunch of tubes is with the 15” X 15” cartons and egg crates, also available at Antique Electronic Supply. My cartons are stacked 5 high on the top shelf of a storage bin, but they would probably safely stack higher if the ceiling wasn’t in the way. I separate tube types such as octal, loctal, miniature, 2 digit types, etc., and label the contents, 6H6 thru 6SK7, 45 thru 57, or whatever. If you plan on adding to your collection, leave a few cells empty in each carton. That way you won’t have to re-label your boxes and re-shuffle your tubes to other boxes near so often. Some of the changes on my cartons look like a bunch of chicken tracks. I also have tubes stored in individual white boxes, but they take up a good bit more storage space.

If you are really ambitious, you can make your own tube boxes. I unfolded a tube box in good condition and used it as a template. I traced the outline on some scrap paperboard (actually, the inside of an empty cereal box). I have downloaded old tube carton artwork for Arcturus and RCA (world-map)boxes and I glue this to the outline. Cut out the design and fold it into a tube box. Makes a nice, colorful, nostalgic container.

The most expensive box I saw at www.tubesandmore.com was 65 cents. I don't see how this is so expensive. The smaller ones for the peanut tubes are only about 14 cents. If you order in bulk, you can get them at an even cheaper price. Surely your tubes are worth more than 65 cents a piece. I cannot see your cartons being more expensive than your tubes.

You can also try veterenary (spelling?) clinics and hospitals. The medications they order for use with syringes come in crates which are perfect for peanut tubes.

Hi

You could buy boxes but they can be worth more than the tubes. Tubes store well lose in larger boxes. You could put paper between layers if you are afraid of breakage.

I use file storage boxes. Boxes from copy paper works but don't hold up as well when stacked.
