GE Beam-A-Scope Antenna

The have a ten tube Sivlertone Chassis #100156 that has antenna connections labeled G, D & A. When using a Doublet Antenna arrangement the G go to ground and the D & A are feed to a dipole antenna. When using a conventional antenna arrangement the G & D are bridge together and grounded while the A goes to the antenna. My question is as follows; how would I go about connecting a General Electric “Bean-A-Scope” Antenna to this radio. There are 3 connections on the Beam-A-Scope (red, blue & yellow) and I would like to know if and how they would connect to the G,D&A connections on my radio. (I can -e-mail photos)Any information on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

I have a GE H736 (Rider 11-75 available from this website) with a Beam-0-scope antenna. It has red black and green connections (maybe your are discolored?) The green (yellow?) goes to the grid of the mixer tube, the black(Blue?) to the AGC, and the red to the external antenna through a 0.01 mfd capacitor. Nick S

Nick, Thanks for the quick reply. So what you are telling me, is that it is not just as simple as connecting the Beam-A-Scope wires to the corresponding G,D &A antenna connection on the radio?

You have to look at the schematics of the GE and Silvertone sets and see if it makes sense to substitute. Try a few connections, you won't hurt anything. Nick
