Pix tube

I have a 16WP4 pix tube and wonder if a 16AP4 would sub for it as my tube tester manual lists all of the settings the same for testing each of these tubes so why would it not sub, or will it? Is it a matter of physical size only and why would that be different as they are both supposed to be 16" tubes? Anybody know if any of these tubes would work as a sub of my 16WP4..16AP4, 16DP4, 16LP4, or 16YP4?

Hi John

16AP4 is a metal picture tube. This one would be valuable if you had a good tube.

For testing just about any of the tubes will be the same, 12D or 12N basing.

16WP4 has 70 degree deflection. 16AP4 - 53, 16DP4 - 60, 16LP4 - 52, 16YP4 - 70. Using tubes with different deflection will cause a picture to be small or larger than the screen. Lower deflection angle tubes will also be longer.

Sub for 16WP4 is listed as 16SP4 and 16YP4.

Norm, really appreciate your answer as I had no idea about the deflection and now can get the 16YP4 as didn't know it would sub.
Thanks again,
John

The 16YP4 will sub if you change the ion trap.
Do you still have the dud 16wp4? I might be interested in it if you do. Thanks, John
